Ο FOURNOS, ένα έργο της Βασιλικής Σηφοστρατουδάκη και της Μαρίας Τζανάκου, είναι μία εικαστική πλατφόρμα και ταυτόχρονα μία παρέμβαση που θα πραγματοποιηθεί σε έναν παραδοσιακό φούρνο στο Γύθειο Λακωνίας. Ο φούρνος βρίσκεται επί της Βασιλέως Γεωργίου 45 και στα πλαίσια του FOURNOS θα λειτουργήσει μεταξύ 01 και 04 Αυγούστου 2016 και ώρες 07:00-15:00
Στα πλαίσια της εικαστικής πλατφόρμας αυτής ο χώρος που φιλοξενεί το έργο FOURNOS προσεγγίζεται και διαμορφώνεται μέσα από μία συμμετοχική διαδικασία ενός εργαστηρίου η οποία συνδυάζει την έννοια του εργαστηρίου παραγωγής, διαδικασίας κ' πώλησης προϊόντων αρτοποιϊας με την καλλιτεχνική πρακτική, με το εργαστήριο του καλλιτέχνη, και με το ίδιο το έργο τέχνης και την πρόσληψη του από το κοινό. Με το σκεπτικό ότι το εργαστήριο του παραγωγού που ποιεί ανοίγει προς το κοινό, δεν θα γίνουν private view/εγκαίνια ή finissage ενώ το εγχείρημα αποσκοπεί σε ένα μεταβαλλόμενο επιτόπιο διάλογο με όσους έχουν τη δυνατότητα να παρευρεθούν στο εμπορικό κέντρο του Γυθείου. Η εικαστική πλατφόρμα επιχειρεί -ως ένα κομμάτι της αγοράς που προϋπάρχει - να πλάσει και να ζυμωθεί με την τοπική κοινωνία καθώς τα εικαστικά έργα και το ερευνητικό υλικό των προσκεκλημένων όπως οι παρεμβάσεις, δράσεις, ομιλίες, ξεναγήσεις, γλυπτικές εγκαταστάσεις, κλπ δεν θα εκτίθενται όλα από την πρώτη στιγμή αλλά θα παρουσιάζονται σταδιακά στο κοινό μέσα από μία ανοικτή διαδικασία.

FOURNOS, an artwork by Vasiliki Sifostratoudaki and Maria Tzanakou consists of a visual platform and at the same time of an intervention that will take place in a traditional bakery in Githio, Lakonia, Greece in the summer of 2016. In the context of FOURNOS the bakery will resume its normal working hours (07:00-15:00) between 01-04 August 2016.
The space hosting FOURNOS will be approached through a participatory process bringing together notions of production and consumption / trade as these relate both to the workings of the bakery as well as to artistic practice, the artists' studio and the work of art.The principal aim of the work is to open up a transformative, site-specific dialogue with those who will attend as part of their daily routine in the marketplace area where the bakery is located. The visual platform will also attempt - largely by becoming integrated with the local market - to mold and ferment with the local community. In the spirit of opening the producer's workshop doors to the public there will be no exhibition private view or closing events, while the works of the guest artists and researchers, ranging from sculptural installations and interventions to lectures and tours will not be all exhibited and presented simultaneously and/or at the beginning of the project but will develop gradually and will be presented over the space of the four days through an open process.
